Glenfield, Bayview, Hillcrest, Totara Vale, Windy Ridge

The Shore Action team has led the Kaipātiki Local Board for the last three years and has delivered an unprecedented number of projects, initiatives and events for our community, including:

  • New toilets at Monarch Park and Rewi Alley Reserve.
  • Supported traffic management trial around Willow Park School.
  • New junior playground with shadesails and youth equipment at Marlborough Park, with expanded skatepark coming soon (work starting November 2019).
  • New bike pump track at Glenfield Intermediate School.
  • Industrial pollution prevention programme in Wairau Valley industrial area to help protect our waterways.
  • Temporarily closed part of Leigh Scenic Reserve to protect 800-year old kauri from dieback disease.
  • New netball courts at Glenfield College.
  • Funded artwork for Oruamo Domain (Horton’s Hill) in partnership with Kaipātiki Public Arts Trust.
  • Commissioned nature trail and trial of meadow naturalisation at Monarch Park (2019/20).
  • New natural play equipment and improved bike track at Normanton Reserve.
  • New playgrounds at Camelot Reserve (funded), Elliott Reserve (funded), Lancelot Reserve, Locket Reserve, Manuka Reserve, Tamahere Reserve, Windy Ridge Reserve (funded).
  • New sports floor at Eventfinda Stadium.
  • Installing street-to-street walkway signage throughout Bayview, Glenfield, Hillcrest, Totara Vale, Wairau Valley (Sept/Oct 2019).
  • Extended Downing St Domain liquor ban to 24/7.
  • New handrail on dangerously steep part of Peach Road.
  • Negotiated public access to Glenfield tennis courts.
  • Commissioned Lynn Road pedestrian crossing outside Lynn Reserve (March 2020).
  • Funded upgrade of the dangerous Coronation Road/Archers Road intersection.
  • Funded new path and stormwater improvements at the end of Glendhu Road.
  • Daylighting of underground stream at Normanton Reserve (starting October 2019).
  • Funded road safety improvements, including Bayview pedestrian refuges (underway), and “SLOW” markings at pedestrian crossings outside Bayview Primary, Target Road School and Windy Ridge School.
